Hey there,

Big moves in AI hardware today.

Rokid just shocked everyone with their Kickstarter success.

Latin America's making a bold play against Big Tech dominance.

And China's changing the game for AI content.

Let's get into it.

1. Rokid glasses raise $1 million on Kickstarter in just 4 days

Rokid just blew past their Kickstarter goal. The Chinese AR company raised over $1 million in pre-orders for their new AI glasses in just 72 hours, crushing their initial $20,000 target. These glasses pack a heads-up display, native ChatGPT support, and work with 89 languages. They're lighter than Meta Ray-Bans at 48 grams and can capture photos in both horizontal and vertical. Global pre-orders already hit 300,000 units with shipping starting November 2025.

2. Latin America launches Latam-GPT to rival ChatGPT with $10 million investment

Latin America's building their own AI. Chile's National Center for AI is leading Latam-GPT, an open-source model trained on 8TB of regional data including Spanish, Portuguese, and indigenous languages. The project brings together 30+ institutions across 12 countries with infrastructure at University of Tarapacá using NVIDIA H200 GPUs. It launches this September with capabilities matching ChatGPT 3.5. The goal? Create AI that actually understands Latin American culture, history, and local dialects.

3. China rolls out mandatory AI labels across all major social platforms

China just flipped the switch on AI transparency. WeChat, Douyin, Weibo, and RedNote now require labels on all AI-generated content starting Monday. Users must mark text, images, audio, and video created with AI, including watermarks in metadata. Platforms can detect AI content automatically and users can report unlabeled material. The law comes from four government agencies including the Cyberspace Administration trying to control the flood of AI content.

4. LayerX scores $100M Series B to automate Japan's paper-heavy back offices

Japanese startup LayerX just landed $100 million. Technology Cross Ventures led their first Japanese investment with this Series B round. The company's AI platform Bakuraku automates expense management and invoice processing for 15,000+ companies, growing from 10,000 to 15,000 clients in just two months. Founded by serial entrepreneur Yoshinori Fukushima, they're targeting $680 million in revenue by 2030 with half coming from AI agents.

5. Abu Dhabi's G42 diversifies beyond Nvidia for massive 5GW AI campus

G42's making strategic moves in chip sourcing. The Abu Dhabi tech giant is talking to AMD, Qualcomm, and Cerebras Systems to supply chips for their UAE-US AI campus beyond just Nvidia. They're negotiating with Google, AWS, Microsoft, Meta, and xAI to become tenants, with Google furthest along. The 5GW facility will be the largest AI infrastructure outside the US. First phase launches 2026 using Nvidia's Grace Blackwell systems.

6. Runway expands from Hollywood to robotics with world simulation models

Runway's found a new market. The video generation startup famous for Gen-4 is now working with robotics and self-driving car companies who want their world simulation tech for training. Companies use Runway's models to test specific scenarios without real-world costs, keeping variables constant while testing different actions. The seven-year-old company worth $3 billion is building a dedicated robotics team and fine-tuning models for these industries.
